Turmeric is an essential beauty product used in India going back many centuries due to its anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and antioxidant properties. This is attributed to its active ingredient, called curcumin.

Not only is it used as a spice for cooking, but also as a healing remedy. As a natural antioxidant, curcumin has the ability to reduce sun damage. It is the most inexpensive and natural way to get beautiful, glowing skin. It can be particularly helpful in treating a variety of skin conditions such as acne, psoriasis, and dermatitis.

Listed below are a few topical uses for some common skincare ailments. To test for sensitivity do a patch test beforehand. Apply a small amount to your inner arm, cover with a bandage for 24 hours.

 

Turmeric Face Mask For Oily Skin

Combine 2 tbsps of sandalwood powder with 1/4 tbsp of turmeric powder and three tablespoons of orange juice. Mix these ingredients well and apply this paste to your face. Leave it for 10 minutes and rinse well with lukewarm water. Can be used twice a week.

 

Turmeric Dry Skin Mask

Take one egg white, a few drops of olive or almond oil, rose water, fresh lemon juice, and a pinch of turmeric powder. Mix everything well and apply to dry areas like the face, neck, knees, and elbows. Keep it on until completely dry for about 10 to 15 minutes. Rinse off with lukewarm water. Do this three to four times a week.

 

Reduction of Facial Hair

Mix 3 teaspoons of turmeric with 1 teaspoon milk. Spread an even layer to your skin. Allow to dry for 20 minutes. Scrub your skin in a circular motion using a dry washcloth to remove the mask. For best results, the process can be repeated every three days.

 

Turmeric for Wrinkle Prevention

Mix turmeric powder with an equal amount of gram flour (aka chickpea flour) and raw milk. Apply this paste before bathing and leave till it completely dries. Rinse it off but do not use any soap or chemicals. This mask is going to exfoliate your skin and you will have an instant glow.

 

Turmeric Treatment For Cracked Heels

Mix a pinch of turmeric with 2 tbsps of castor or coconut oil. Wash your feet and apply the mixture on your cracked heels along with an old pair of socks. Do this before going to bed and leave it on overnight. For best results, repeat this for a week.
